My Story

Several years ago, I watched a documentary that looked at how children around the world seek refuge in train stations at night to try to escape the dangers they face on the streets.  This programme had a profound impact on me such that I have never forgotten.  It was the plight of the children, homeless, hungry and alone - shared across many countries - different languages, climates and continents.  But moreover was the poignancy that in these little childrens' minds the train station seemed to suggest an offer of protection; that somehow the presence of officials and grown-ups provide some feeling of security even if the children knew they were unwelcome.  The programme was heartbreaking and thinking of it now still affects me ; it seemed to be the most innocent demonstration of how children look to adults for order for safety and how no children should be without guardians.

When the opportunity to take part in this event arrived in my work inbox - I was straight in! We will be at Glasgow Central for one night to raise awareness and funds of vulnerable children alone and at risk in the UK, India & Tanzania.  We can never understand the terrible circumstances these children face - but I can share this and ask that you think of donating - if everyone one this reaches simply gave the cost of a coffee at a UK station, it would make a big difference. I am so proud that Matt MacDonald is supporting this cause and I look forward to seeing anyone passing by Glasgow Central Station on the 14 Mar 24.
